Down Time/New Beginnings
4/28/06
Greetings and Blessed Be.
It has been several weeks since my last post, "A Fresh Start". Shortly after that entry, I became very ill after having a negative reaction to some medication to the point where I could not get out of bed for two weeks. Needless to say, the Universe was telling me I needed to slow down and forced me to take some unscheduled down time before beginning a new.
So, now I'm playing catch up on work and writing, while also getting ready to take a few days of retreat with my Coven mates to celebrate Beltane. I'm going to also use this time to recharge my batteries, reflect, and make some more changes to my lifestyle to avoid being forced to take time off.
I've also been contemplating the need and use of modern medicine and how it works with or against Wiccan and other alternative healing approaches such as Reiki. I have completed level 2 towards my Reiki masters. You would think that being somewhat knowledgeable and somewhat skilled at alernative healing, my health would be in better condition. However, just because we are magickal doesn't mean that we are protected from getting sick. We are still human, and the human body fails us at times. And in the cycle of birth, life, death and rebirth, are physical bodies are not ment to live forever, but our soul reincarnates into a new living being. We can do take preventative measures (diet, vitamins, meditation, exercise, etc.) to reduce the chances of getting sick and improve our current physical condition. And when the body does fail us, we do have both modern medicine and alternative healing techniques that can work together if approached in the right way that can make us better and in many cases, save our lives, at least until the Universe deems it time for death and rebirth. Being in remission from cancer, I'm grateful for the modern medicine that has prolonged my life, and a few healing rituals didn't hurt.
The weekend is drawing near and the car must be packed for the retreat.
Many blessings to all.
