My Favorite Time of Year

Greetings.

Now that my event management busy season is over, I can take some time to do the things I most enjoy as nature brings a Witch's favorite time of year--autumn, Mabon, cool nights, a rainbow of colors among the trees, fall and harvest festivals, pumkins, Samhain, etc.

My very good friend, Dorothy Morrison and her very dear friend and sidekick, MR Sellars, will be doing readings and workshops this weekend at Magickal Moons, in Occaquan, VA, the store my friend Samantha partly owns. It will be good to see them and be in like-minded company, which I'm craving so much after months of hard work.

I've been asked to teach at the Sisters of the Burning Branch Mabon and Samhain retreats, so I'm preparing the workshops and materials to facilitate classes about Creating Magickal Entities based on my friend, Taylor Ellwood's book, as well as poppet and collage magick. These are 3 techniques that I use often, and I hope that others can use them as well.

I will be participating in the following craft shows with my new company, Goddess Goods by Sage, hand-processed products for the mind, heart, body and spirit as well as Reiki sessions and tarot readings:

Breast Cancer Crusade Benefit Sale on Sept. 16, on the grounds of the Snowden Office Building located on the corner of Jeff Davis Highway, (Rt. 1), at the entrance of Mary Washington Hospital;

Brooke Point High School Craft Fair, on November 4, at Brooke Point High School, 1700 Courthouse Road, Stafford, VA; and

26th Annual Candy Cane Castle, December 2, at the Hillendale Fire House Corner of Dale Blvd. and Hillendale Dr., Dale City, VA.

I plan to register for other shows and will post them here.

For the past several months, I've been writing and preparing for officiating my first hand-fasting ritual that will take place on Oct. 7. It has been a real delight meeting and planning with the couple and I will promote this service more in the future.

I've fallen a bit behind in my High Priestess studies, and I will be working on catching up and devoting more time to my column and book project.

Since Samhain is around the corner, I'm giving some thought to contacting the faith community to schedule speaking opportunities so that I may share who Witches really are and what we really do, as myself and others continue to address the stigma still associated with Wicca and Witchcraft.

After 10+ years as a Witch, I finally got the Witch's traditional familiar, the cat. Well, she's not a cat yet, but she will be. Right now, she is a tiny black and white butter ball of fur with big green eyes and ears. And I appropriately named her, Bastet, after the Egyptian Goddess. I'd forgotten what fun it is to have a cat. She's loveable, curious, intelligent, and a little mysterious--a little like the rest of us.
