Vacation, Friends and The Goat
Last week I took my annual spring vacation a few days before and following Memorial Day. I refuse to drive anywhere near Northern VA around Memorial Day weekend. The traffic is horrific during normal times and around holidays it is even worse.
I usally plan out my time off to include gatherings, shopping, catching up on errands, spring cleaning, tanning, correspondence, etc., but this time I did what I felt like doing each day and still got much accomplished and with less stress. I also created what I call a Business Plan for my life capturing prosperity opportunities as well as identifying the core areas of my life I want to focus on such as my book project and column, aromtherapy/craft business, consulting/contract work, and spiritual studying and services, in addition to my full time profession.
These aspirations keep my calendar quite full and I struggle with time to take care of the house and my physical self. Housework is not one of my favorite tasks, and I hate the term "working out". I'm creating a spiritual approach to exercise to include activities that I can associate with my connection to the Divine and that I enjoy such as yoga, belly dancing, hiking, etc. , and referring to strength training as body sculpting, this approach is much more sexier and treats my body as the natural artwork that it is.
I'm back at work this week and my busy season has begun with major events and preparing for fall craft shows. I'm also working on marketing the book project to area new age and magick stores. This week has also been a time for connecting with special friends. My friend, Samantha continues to be a great supporter, and I also am helping with her endeavors. Mona and I went to the VA Ren Fair. My friend, Thomas, recently moved to New York, but is keeping in touch. I heard from an old friend, Neal, that I used to work with. And one of my best boyfriends/girlfriends, Patrick, is inheriting a large piece of property--he really needs a break and this is it!
My newest addiction is listening to the scanner my spouse programmed for me. I can pick up police, fire, sherriff, etc. calls and responses from several jurisdictions. It is like have my own Law and Order. One call tonight was from a neighbor complaining about the goat next door who was making a loud noise. He was rescued, but was being kept in a neighborhood that doesn't allow goats. Let's hope he gets a good home!
